10 Hobbies That Help You Meet People and Make Friends
We live in a world that has become more connected than ever via internet connection but more disconnected than ever in the real world. Have you found it more challenging to maintain friendships and relationships? Do you find yourself isolating or seeking to meet new people? Here are several fun hobbies that create a space to meet new people and make new friends.
1. Workout Classes

Gym classes are perfect for finding like-minded individuals who are positive, consistent goal-setters. Classes like Yoga, CrossFit, boxing, cycling, or even walking on a treadmill at the gym are where many people find some of their closest friends.
2. Outdoor Activities

Are you a nature lover who enjoys being outdoors? Activities such as rock climbing and hiking provide excellent opportunities to meet like-minded nature enthusiasts. These hobbies typically involve group outings where you connect with others who share your passion for being in creation.
3. Gaming

While many people dismiss gaming as an online activity, many die-hard gamers meet up with and make friends with fellow gamers they’ve connected with online. You can follow your favorite game’s social media pages and groups to meet others. Also, Discord has many game groups run by game makers or hardcore fans.
4. Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to love your neighbor while meeting people who care about the same things you do. Giving your time and services to causes you are passionate about helps your mental health, the community, and our world. Start with smaller commitments in issues that interest you the most. You’ll meet some amazing new people and friends.
5. Live Action Role Play (LARP)

LARPing, or Live-action role play, is a spectrum of immersive experiences. Some are very character—and storyline-driven, while others are combat-driven in the context of an apocalyptic Zombieland, medieval fantasy knight play, or vampire parlor games.
6. Camping

Camping is a hobby that brings nature lovers together at campgrounds, RV sites, and other scenic backdrops, such as State and National Parks. Another great place to find fellow campers is by taking a wilderness survival and first aid class.
7. Pottery Classes

Do you enjoy playing with fire and mud? Then, pottery classes are right up your hobby alley. Ceramic classes are reasonably affordable and a wonderful way to connect with new people and make new friends.
8. Dancing Classes

From ballroom to square dancing classes, dancing is an energetic hobby that provides ample opportunity to meet people and make new active friends. While plenty of singles exist, it’s also a fun place to meet other couples.
9. Tabletop Role-Playing Games

Tabletop RPG (role-playing games) is the perfect way to find other friends who like to “geek out.” There are tons of adult board games that bring people together. My sister loves these games and hosts monthly gatherings with like-minded board-gaming friends, and those friendships have blossomed into getting together for other activities.
10. Bible Studies

Bible studies are easy to find in churches throughout your communities. Men’s and women’s group Bible studies, couples Bible studies, and niche studies provide a beautiful place for making new friends through fellowship and prayer. I found a church that does small-based home groups and made friends with many incredible women.
